Camera Fundamentals:
Depth, Light, and Composition
Hosted at CoHo Resource Center
In this hands-on workshop, participants explored the core elements of digital photography and cinematic framing using two Canon RC5 cameras and a suite of five distinct manual focus lenses. Together, we dove into the essentials of lighting and visual composition, learning how each lens interacts with depth and light to shape an image.
We covered the camera’s manual modes and how to use them confidently, examined the differences between image resolution and rendering, and explored how to control noise in various shooting environments. Through practical demos and creative experimentation, participants left with sharper technical skills and a deeper appreciation for the camera as a storytelling tool.
